After taking a cruise through Milford Sound, I walked across the road from the main restaurant/parking area to this spot. The ground was pretty soft and soggy but was able to get a few shots here without sinking in – definitely a great view for photos! None of the other hoards of tourists were out here so it was easy to get a shot without people roaming around. You can see the cruise terminal off in the distance, looks pretty tiny compared to the impressive mountains surrounding the fjord. Such an awesome place to visit, I was lucky enough to go on my birthday with my fiance!
I wanted to give the massive mountains some context with the ground using a wide angle so I pulled out my Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens. I didn’t have my tripod on me so I shot this handheld about a foot above the ground, taking 3 exposures to later merge to HDR. I processed with the usual Photomatix, Lightroom, and Nik Color Efex Pro.
